Where to report a concern

EmergencyIf someone is in danger right now, call 999.

This site can't take reports. Please contact the people who can act on them.

At your child's school

For a worry about a child's safety or wellbeing, ask to speak to the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). For concerns about the building, site security or bullying, start with the headteacher or the school office.

Worried about a child

Adults can call the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000 for advice. You can also contact your local council's children's services. Children and young people can talk to Childline free on 0800 1111.

Online abuse and images

Young people, parents and carers can report online sexual abuse or grooming to CEOP. Under-18s can use Report Remove to try to get a nude image of themselves taken down. For online bullying, fake accounts or hacking, report to the platform and tell the school.

A threat or a crime

Report threats of violence to the police on 101 (or 999 in an emergency) and tell the school as well, even if you're unsure how serious it is.

Someone in crisis

Call Samaritans free on 116 123, any time, or text SHOUT to 85258. In England and Wales you can also call NHS 111 and choose option 2 for urgent mental health support.
